PEER REVIEW PROCESS

The EIP Journal practices double-blind peer review where both the authors and the reviewers are anonymized. Every article submitted to EIP journal must be original in nature and strictly adhere to the manuscript guidelines without which the article will not be further processed and may lead to desk rejection.  The articles which successfully pass the initial screening process are subjected to a rigorous peer review process consisting of at least one independent reviewer who is mostly an expert in the subject domain of the article.

The articles are also screened for possible plagiarism issues using any authenticate software such as Urkund and those articles which bear significant plagiarism misconduct i.e., more than 25% will lead to further decline of the article and may be reprimanded with notice from the journal for academic misconduct.

“These standards are non-negotiable and strictly enforced by the editor of the EIP journal of the Samtse College of Education”

The detailed review process is as follows:

  1. Submissions check: The Publications Office makes sure that all information needed for processing the submission was provided; that the submission complies with the Manuscript Guidelines of the journal; and that the content is relevant to the journal.
  2. Plagiarism screening: The submitted articles are further scanned with plagiarism checking software such as Urkund software for plagiarism misconduct.
  3. Confidentiality: The articles are anonymized and compiled to be sent for the peer review process; invitations are sent to reviewers to review the manuscript.
  4. Peer-review: The articles are evaluated by an independent reviewer who are guided by the review guidelines and criteria of the journal, involving an assessment of its suitability for publication (based on the quality of language, compatibility with the EIP Journal’s Aims & Scope, evidence of research, and sufficiency of references to the international literature). Reviewer comments are objective and provided with the aim of helping authors to improve their articles.
  5. Revision: Notification of the author(s) of the outcome of the review via a reviewing sheet(s) made available to the author(s). If the submission is found suitable, the author(s) are invited to make any necessary changes and return the article to the editor.
  6. Copyediting: Proofreading and checking whether the reworked article is written in compliance with the reviewer's comments and the Author’s Guidelines. If the article merits publication to the satisfactory judgment of the Editorial Office, the authors are notified of the final acceptance of the article for publication and made available with Author’s Accepted Manuscript (AAM) for any minor editing errors such as typos and names. No major editing will be entertained.
  7. Production: The final article is converted into galleys such as a PDF, HTML and XML as per the format of the journal and published as the final Version of Record (VoR). The authors will be notified and acknowledged of their contribution and allowed for further use and distribution of their own materials in any medium.

Note: Members of the EIP journal Board are experts in diverse fields within education, teaching, and assessment. As of 2022, there are ten scholars from various Universities on the journal’s editorial board. The Editor takes steps to always ensure that all manuscripts are completely anonymized.

We do not guarantee short peer review times, although reviewers are requested to return their review within 2 to 3 weeks. The editorial process may take more time (sometimes considerably) when there are extenuating circumstances, such as conflicts with the evaluators’ teaching duties at the beginning or end of an academic semester, or pandemics.
